It’s official – the time has come to bury summer fashion. However, there are ways to transform your summer wardrobe into fall-worthy looks as well. For example, basic tees or tanks can still be worn during the fall season by adding layered pieces such as chunky sweaters or denim button-up shirts with a leather jacket. Shorts, skirts and dresses can still survive by throwing on a pair of thick tights underneath them with some tall leather boots.
The essential items can easily be transformed from season to season by simply layering and learning how to switch pieces in and out of your looks. Many people used to think that I had so many different items of clothing in my closet when I was in high school or college when I just learned how to utilize what I owned to create different looks.
As part of my “Back to School Series,” a comfortable and casual outfit is only fitting for today’s blog post. After all – comfort is key during the school days! There are some days when you wake up and just want to throw on a loose-fitting top and flats to call it a day with wardrobe styling. Graphic prints are currently quite trendy, so I’ve paired a flowing crop top with a simple pair of light-washed denim shorts to keep the look very clean and crisp.
One of my go-to items for the school season is a cute pair of flat shoes and these BCBG leather flats are perfection when I’m going to be running around or on my feet all day.

Every girl needs a little R&R (rest and relaxation) once in awhile. Am I right or am I right? On those Sunday nights when I just want to stay at home and relax, I enjoy creating my own little “DIY Girl’s Night In” by making my home a spa in itself. This would also be a great idea to try out with your closest girl friends by inviting them over for a cozy night in.
No “Girl’s Night In” would be complete without:

With their effortless style and breezy shape, maxi skirts are one of the most quintessential staples for a girl’s summer wardrobe. Although every girl doesn’t have mile-high legs, there is nothing wrong with adding heels along with a maxi skirt to create an ultra feminine look. I could go on and on about the numerous reasons why maxi skirts are so simple to style. Therefore, I filmed this quick how-to video displaying 5 different looks featuring the superstar summer piece: a lightweight maxi skirt.
Which one would you rock?

Despite the typical morning routine, we all tend to shift our routine on the weekends (especially during the summer). Let’s admit it, we sleep in later and dress a little more casual when Saturday morning approaches. Check out the video below to see my morning routine on an average summer weekend with me.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I hope you’re all enjoying the holiday and grubbing on some delicious food, as I know I will be very shortly. I love holiday season because I spend time with family and more importantly my little man is old enough to enjoy more of the festivities as well. I just uploaded a new video to my YouTube channel youtube.com/LynseeHeeKyeong! Enjoy 🙂
Hey guys! Over the weekend I took my little man to his first Halloween costume party and we were dressed as The Little Mermaid’s Ariel and Sebastian so I filmed a tutorial to show you how I created the look. I have one more costume that I’ll be showing later as well. I’ll post a recap of the party tomorrow, but for now…enjoy the beauty tutorial and let me know what you’re going to dress up as for Halloween.
My addiction to French macarons began when I first tried them at the Lincoln Road farmer’s market and I started buying a dozen of them every Sunday ever since then. They seemed easy enough to make so I decided to make my own and they were delicious! I love how you can create different variations of these miniature pieces of heaven. French macarons are primarily made of egg whites (yay, less calories) and confectioners’ sugar. I found that they tasted even better the day after I made them so I suggest eating them the day after; however, it’s hard to wait that long.
They are the perfect cure to a sweet tooth – crispy on the outside and chewy once you bite into one of these babies. I chose to make lemon, blueberry and chocolate hazelnut macarons but of course you can personalize them to your taste.
How to make French Macarons:
3 egg whites (day old)
3/4 cup almond flour (or you can make your own by processing almond slivers)
1 cup confectioners’ sugar
1/4 cup granulated sugar
Pinch of cream of tartar
I just bought jars of lemon curd, blueberry jam and chocolate hazelnut butter but you can always make your own
1. Sift together the almond flour and confectioners’ sugar twice.
2. Whisk egg whites on a medium speed and add cream of tartar until soft peaks form. Reduce speed to low and add granulated sugar. Increase speed until stiff peaks form.
3. Sift flour mixture over egg whites and fold with a spatula until smooth. I sectioned my batter into three separate bowls, added food coloring to each, and then poured them into separate piping bags (ziploc bags with the tip cut off).
4. Pipe 3/4-inch rounds about an inch apart on parchment-lined baking sheets. Take your baking sheet and hold it about a foot above your table and drop it (this removes any excess air). Let stand for 30 minutes. Preheat oven to 375 degrees and bake at 325 degrees for about 8-10 minutes. After each batch, set the oven to 375 and reduce again when you’re ready to put another tray in.
5. Let them cool and add your filling to each. Assemble your mini macarons and enjoy! 🙂
Over the weekend, I had the pleasure of attending a black tie gala and red carpet event for the 100 Black Men of South Florida organization. If you aren’t too familiar with the organization, they have chapters throughout the world that have touched the lives of over 500,000 young people through their Four For the Future: Mentoring, Education, Health and Wellness & Economic Development programs to improve the quality of life of citizens and enhance educational opportunities for the African-American community (primarily focusing on young males).
Their signature weekend kicked off with a college expo and scholarship fair, followed by the Warren Henry Auto Celebrity Golf Classic and the 10th Annual Signature Black Tie Gala. It was empowering to be in the same room with other powerful professional players as we supported this amazing organization.
NFL legend Lawrence Taylor was featured on CBS at the celebrity golf classic which will air during the Super Bowl. Miami-Dade Commissioner Jean Monestine, the honorable Manny Diaz, Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, VH1 Basketball Wives’ star Kenya Bell, and two of the original Tuskegee airmen were also at the black tie gala.
What I wore:
Exclusive for INTERMIX silk dress
Steve Madden heels
When I’m styling myself for a red carpet event or gala I like to keep it very glamorous and sleek; therefore, I curled my hair and swept it to one side to coincide with my one-sleeve dress. The dress was a jewel-tone hunter green and made of 100% silk. I kept my accessories and makeup minimal, as I wanted to keep it simple and chic. I didn’t really take many photos with my camera because I didn’t want to be carrying around a huge Canon camera, but I took some shots of my look at home.
